"Life Unscripted: Emotions in the World of Grown-Ups"
Starting Out in the Work World
Imagine that you've completed your degree and have either just begun your career or currently seeking employment. At this point, you might not earn a lot, but you have big dreams. You want to help your family, support your parents and siblings, and hope to have a family of your own someday.
Life Gets Tricky
As you begin your career, things can get complicated. Your friends from school are also busy with their jobs or dealing with life's challenges and some friendships might not be as strong. Work can be tough, and some days you might feel frustrated.
Money Challenges
There are times when money is tight, and you struggle to pay for things like getting to work. Sometimes, you might need to borrow money just to make ends meet.
Feeling Alone
During this journey, you might feel alone, like nobody understands what you're going through. People might ask you about your personal life, like why you're not married or why you're not as successful as others your age.
Finding Comfort
But you know what's incredible? How life unfolds and people keep going, even when things are tough. Women might hear questions about marriage, and men might feel the pressure to measure up to their peers. Sometimes, you just sit and sigh when things are hard.
In my own experience, I've felt all these emotions. There were times when I cried to feel better and times when I laughed to lighten the load. Prostrating to my Lord, talking to my mom and sister always helped. But the most comforting thing is my faith. Believing in a higher power, saying prayers, and feeling God's presence gives me peace, protection, and guidance.
As I write this, I'm reminded of the beauty of being grateful. I say "Alhamdulillah" to thank God for everything in life, the good and the tough stuff. Life can be complex and challenging, but it's also a journey filled with learning, growth, and the presence of something greater than ourselves.
